About the Psychological Services Clinic

Located at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), the Psychological Services Clinic is part of the Center for Applied Psychology. The Clinic delivers psychotherapeutic and assessment services by advanced doctoral students under the supervision of faculty and clinical supervisors.

We are located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway. The Clinic is on a bus stop serviced by the free intercampus bus line running throughout the New Brunswick / Piscataway area. We are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Our clients are referred from both Rutgers University and the surrounding communities. We are committed to being helpful to all clients who are referred to us, but, as a training program, we reserve the right to decide which clients will best fit our services and levels of expertise. As such, we may not accept some clients for treatment here, but will provide referrals to the appropriate services and levels of care.

Fees and Insurance:

The services offered by the Clinic are provided by graduate student therapists from our doctoral programs. We offer therapeutic services at a low cost, based on clients’ household income and ability to pay. If you are a Rutgers student, and have the Student Health Insurance Plan with United Healthcare Student Resources sponsored by Rutgers University, you will have no co-pay, no coinsurance or deductibles for services provided at the clinic.

The Clinic director is Craig Springer, Ph.D.. We have a full-time Office Manager, Dolores Turchi. Therapeutic services are arranged by the Clinic Coordinators, and it is they who provide the initial client phone contacts, interview and assess potential clients, communicate with referral sources, and maintain the flow of information and cases. Our doctoral student therapists are of many diverse backgrounds and are sensitive to clients' suffering due to racism, poverty, exploitation, sexual and physical abuse, and discrimination due to gender and sexual orientation. We place great emphasis on empowering clients in our work together, and engaging in a collaborative therapeutic relationship, helping each person find his or her way through the difficulties they face.
